I am always in the mood for a good whole milk eggnog. Unfortunately for me, it’s only available during the holiday season and there are only a handful of stores that carry a good fresh eggnog. So I’ve mastered my own since this is a simple drink which includes milk, sugar, nutmeg, and the most important ingredient – raw egg. You can also add whipped cream as an additional ingredient.
The history of this drink is usually ascribed to England, although it is by far not the only country which claims the right to its authorship. This is because the mixing of milk and egg was accepted by many nations.
Ingredients
- 4 cups raw, whole milk
- 8 egg pastured egg yolks
- 1/4 cup raw honey or maple syrup
- 1tsp vanilla extract
- nutmeg for each glass
- brandy, cognac, or spiced rum (optional)
Instructions
- Blend eggs, milk, honey and vanilla in blender until smooth and fluffy. Serve hot or cold, topped with some fresh grated nutmeg.
