We all dream of having that Hollywood smile complete with bright white teeth. However, tea, coffee, and definitely smoking can prematurely yellow your teeth and stain the enamel for years. Unfortunately, chemical teeth whitening can destroy your teeth and be quite costly. However, there are a few natural ways to whiten your teeth at home.
3 Natural Ways to whiten teeth at home
Wood ash
It may seem strange, but wood ash perfectly whitens teeth. The reason wood ash whitens teeth is because it has potassium hydroxide (aka lye). Tiny particles of ash help remove plaque and make your teeth healthy looking. However, wood ash is not recommended for long term use, because its strong abrasive effect can lead to degradation of tooth enamel. You can use wood ash to whiten your teeth both alone or mixed with paste.
Baking soda has many diverse applications, including teeth whitening. Most dentists recognize that it is a really effective and safe tool that can quickly improve the color and condition of your teeth. You can use baking soda separately or mixed in equal proportions of toothpaste to neutralize the salty taste. Apply the mixture on the toothbrush and brush your teeth as usual. Do not press on the brush too much, so as not to scratch the enamel.
Strawberries
Few people know that strawberry’s contain a natural bleaching substance, which is ideal for removal of plaque. The strawberry has an enzyme called malic acid that has been found to be an effective teeth whitening tool. Cut the strawberry in two and wipe discolored area on your teeth. You can also crush the berries with a fork and use the mash as a paste. After that, be sure to brush your teeth with toothpaste, as strawberries contain sugar and acid.
